Cholesterol is a fatty substance (lipid) that is essential for many bodily functions, including good brain and nerve function. Cholesterol is produced by the liver and is transported through the blood stream to the parts of the body that needs it. Cholesterol is also introduced into the body by the foods a person consumes. There are two types of cholesterol: low-density lipoproteins (LDLs) and high-density lipoproteins (HDLs). LDLs, also known as “bad cholesterol”, are responsible for moving cholesterol into the bloodstream, but they also tend to leave fatty deposits behind in the arteries. The job of HDLs, or “good cholesterol”, is to carry unneeded cholesterol away from the cells and back to the liver, where it is removed from the body. Cayenne herb is derived from grinding the dried pepper fruit, Capsicum frutescens, to a fine powder form and then taken in capsule. Cayenne has many uses that have benefited people for thousands of years. It is a diuretic, antiseptic, analgesic and expectorant. It also considerably lowers the cholesterol levels by helping the body to process fat and quickly excretes it from the body. Cayenne is an herb that once digested by the body, helps to clean the bloodstream of unwanted elements. Cayenne processes fat without absorbing it and it helps the body excrete the fats through normal bowel movements. Cayenne is one of the ingredients of Cholesterol Combo from Nepatica. The other ingredients are Red Yeast Rice, Garlic, Guggul and Apple Pectin. Read more!

cayenne and high cholesterol
Cholesterol is a fatty substance (lipid) that is essential for many bodily functions, including proper brain and nerve function. Cholesterol is produced by the liver and is transported through the blood stream to the parts of the body that needs it. Cholesterol is also introduced into the body by the foods a person eats. The liver produces about 80% of the cholesterol needed by the body for proper functioning. If a person eats food high in cholesterol, his cholesterol count can exceed the amount needed to keep the body in balance, resulting in high cholesterol. When too much cholesterol is in the bloodstream plaque builds up in the arteries, blocking blood flow to the brain, heart, kidneys, genitals and extremities.
Cayenne is native to tropical America and is also called chile pepper or red pepper, it comes from the dried fruit of several species and hybrids of plants in the Solanaceae family. The main active ingredient in cayenne is capsaicin, the substance that makes hot peppers hot. Other active ingredients in cayenne include carotenoids, vitamins A and C, and volatile oils. The carotene molecules are powerful antioxidants. Back in the nineteenth century, doctors and herbalists prescribed cayenne as a general stimulant, believing that it "made the blood go round" and restored "internal heat." In the early twentieth century, it was used as part of the cure for alcohol and opium withdrawal. Doctors believed that the quickened action of the circulation increased the rate of blood cleansing and purification. Research has shown that people in cultures that consume large amounts of cayenne appear to have lower rates of cardiovascular disease. There’s evidence that frequent consumption of cayenne reduces levels of cholesterol and triglycerides (another type of blood fat) in the bloodstream. High levels of either can lead to atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) and blockages in the blood vessels. Cayenne also appears to decrease the tendency to form blood clots and reduces the bunching up of blood platelets around plaque buildups in the vessels. The antioxidant properties and circulation-enhancing effects of cayenne benefit the heart muscle. Cayenne is part of Cholesterol Combo together with Red Yeast Rice, Garlic, Guggul and Apple Pectin.

guggul and cholesterol
Guggul, also known as Commiphora Mukul and Guggulipid, is an effective herb for controlling colesterol. The active portion of the plant is the gum resin, which contains guggulsterone, a steroid compound. It appears to be effective in lowering blood levels of both total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol. It has been shown that Guggul can lower blood cholesterol by 14-27% and can lower triglycerides by 22-30%. Guggul works on the liver by increasing the metabolism (or break down) of the bad cholesterol known as LDL Cholesterol. It may decrease the production of cholesterol in the liver. Excretion of cholesterol and bile acids are increased, so that less fat and cholesterol are absorbed. Guggul also increases the production of thyroid hormones, which lower the levels of serum lipids. One of the most important ways that gugulipid lowers cholesterol may be by stimulating the liver to remove LDLs from the bloodstream. Guggul helps rid your body of harmful cholesterol by converting it into bile. Guggul is one of the ingredients of Cholesterol Combo from Nepatica.

apple pectin, a cholesterol fighter
Apple Pectin is having valuable effects on the digestive tract and the ability to maintain intestinal balance.Apple pectin binds with cholesterol and fats before they are absorbed in the body and quickly eliminates them from the intestinal tract, which can help to reduce the risk of coronary problems This binding action can also slow absorption of dietary sugar after meals this can be helpful in maintaining healthy blood sugar levels. Apple Pectin is believed to remove unwanted toxins from the colon and effectively promotes colonic health by cleansing the intestinal tract. Researchers at the University of California, Davis, found that apple pectin also acts as an antioxidant against the damaging portion of cholesterol in the blood stream. Apple Pectin has been shown to increase the excretion of lipids, cholesterol and bile acids, as well as reduce serum cholesterol levels. Pectin work by binding with bile acids, thereby decreasing cholesterol and fat absorption. Apples contain both insoluble and soluble fiber. Apple's two types of fiber can lower cholesterol levels, reducing the risk of hardening of the arteries, heart attack, and stroke. Apple's insoluble fiber works like bran, latching on to LDL cholesterol in the digestive tract and removing it from the body, while apple's soluble fiber pectin reduces the amount of LDL cholesterol produced in the liver. Besides LDL cholesterol pectin removes toxins like the heavy metals lead and mercury from the body. Both the soluble and insoluble fibers in apples have cancer-protective activity since they relieve constipation and send potentially toxic substances out with the stools.

the good HDL choesterol and the bad LDL cholesterol
Our body needs cholesterol to make bile salts, hormones and vitamin D. Cholesterol is mainly produced by the liver. Cholesterol will build up on the artery walls when the level of cholesterol in the blood is too high. There are 2 main types of blood cholesterol: LDL (the "Bad" cholesterol) and HDL (the "Good" cholesterol).Cholesterol can’t dissolve in the blood. It has to be transported to and from the cells by carriers called lipoproteins.
LDL (Bad) Cholesterol
When too much LDL (bad) cholesterol circulates in the blood, it can slowly build up in the inner walls of the arteries that feed the heart and brain. Together with other substances, it can form plaque, a thick, hard deposit that can narrow the arteries and make them less flexible. More and more plaques will narrow the arteries lumen and may eventually block blood flow. Therefore LDL is considered the "Bad" cholesterol. Saturated fats and trans fatty acids are the most important factors that raise blood cholesterol.
HDL (good) Cholesterol
About one-fourth to one-third of blood cholesterol is carried by high-density lipoprotein (HDL). HDL cholesterol is known as “good” cholesterol, because high levels of HDL seem to protect against heart attack. Low levels of HDL (less than 40 mg/dL) also increase the risk of heart disease. The good HDL, takes away excess cholesterol and carries it back to the liver to be excreted. It can also remove some of the cholesterol already attached to the artery walls. Therefore HDL is considered the "Good" cholesterol as high levels of HDL in the blood can decrease the risk of heart disease. Physical activity can also raise HDL level.
Cholesterol Combo from Nepatica will help you to maintain a healthy cholesterol level in a natural way. Cholesterol Combo contains Red Yeast Rice (200 mg), Garlic (100 mg), Guggul (100 mg), Apple Pectin (75 mg) and Cayenne (50mg).

more about red yeast rice
Red Yeast Rice is made by fermenting whole kernel cooked rice with added red yeast. This is the same substance that gives Peking duck its red color. Red yeast rice has been used as a food preservative and a spice, since about 400 A.D. in China. It has also been used in Oriental medicine to relieve diarrhea and indigestion, and to improve circulation of the blood since about the same time. Red Yeast Rice has recently been popular in the western world when it was discovered how well it lowers cholesterol levels in the bloodstream.
During the fermentation process, the rice and red yeast form a substance called lovastatin. Lovastatin, together with other statins, is an excellent cholesterol-lowering medication. This naturally occurring lovastatin has a smaller dose than the prescription lovastatin, but is very effective anyway. Cholesterol Combo from Nepatica is a natural herbal supplement with Red yeast Rice, Garlic, Guggul, Apple Pectin and Cayenne.

more about cholesterol and the liver
Cholesterol is a fatty substance, also called a lipid, that is produced by the liver. It is also found in foods high in saturated fat, like fatty meats, egg yolks, shellfish, and whole-milk dairy products. The body needs cholesterol in order to function. It is a fundamental part of the structure and functioning of the cells, and it is also needed for the formation of various hormones. Cholesterol moves around the bloodstream packaged inside a protein called a lipoprotein. There are two different types of lipoprotein low density lipoprotein (LDL) and high-density lipoprotein (HDL). LDL carries cholesterol throughout the bloodstream as LDL-C, also known as "bad" cholesterol. If you have too much LDL–C in your bloodstream, it can become a danger to your health and can lead to potentially serious conditions. HDL carries cholesterol throughout the bloodstream as HDL-C, also known as "good" cholesterol because it helps return cholesterol to the liver, where it can be eliminated from the body. If the Cholesterol levels are high it can be a good idea to clean the liver with natural herbs. Liver Combo from Nepatica with Milk Thistle (200 mg), Dandelion (200 mg), Licorice (50 mg), Nettle Leaf (50 mg) and Schisandra (50mg) can help you to take better care of your liver in a natural way.

an apple a day...
All about apples is an interesting site about apples. They have the following news about apple pectin. Pectin is a natural fiber found in many fruits with apples being the richest source of pectin among all the fruits. Recent studies have revealed many health benefits from consumption of pectin. Pectin acts as an antioxidant against the bad cholesterol in the blood stream, decreases the chances of colon cancer, reduces high blood pressure and is effective in the regression, or prevention of, gallstones. There is also recent evidence to suggest that taking Apple Pectin everyday over time can lead to a reduction in insulin requirements which may lessen the severity of diabetes. Apple pectin is one of the ingredients in Cholesterol Combo from Nepatica.

high cholesterol
It is important to keep the cholesterol levels within healthy limits. It is extra important to be aware of the cholesterol levels if you have other risk factors for developing heart disease. LDL cholesterol can build up on the inside of artery walls, causing artery blockages that may lead to heart attacks. Higher LDL cholesterol levels mean higher risk. High-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol is known as "good" cholesterol because it helps prevent arteries from becoming clogged. Higher HDL cholesterol levels generally mean lower risk. A high LDL cholesterol level has normally no symptoms, except for your genetic makeup shown in family history of high cholesterol and heart disease. Even if you eat right and exercise your genes can give you high cholesterol levels. Because of that it is extremely important to have your cholesterol checked regularly. Finding the problem early allows you to take action in time. Cholesterol Combo from Nepatica with Red Yeast Rice, Garlic, Guggul, Apple Pectin and

allium sativum
Garlic is a member of the onion family and is nature's most multitalented medicinal plant. Garlic has been used all over the world for thousands of years for a variety of conditions. Modern scientists in various clinical trials have concluded that Garlic lowers cholesterol (while increasing the level of beneficial HDLs the so-called “good cholesterol”), lowers blood pressure, thins the blood (which reduces the, risk of heart attack and stroke) and fights bacteria like an antibiotic.
Garlic contains the amino acid allicin. This chemical element is the component that gives Garlic its strong odor and is responsible for the strong pharmacological properties of the plant. Garlic contains about 0.5% of a volatile oil that is composed of sulfur-containing compounds. Garlic's sulfur compounds, in addition to Selenium and Vitamins A and C containing compounds, make it a powerful antioxidant, protecting our cells from damage and disease from free radicals. We have used 100 mg of Garlic in our Cholesterol Combo and 100 mg of Garlic in our Blood Pressure Combo.

red yeast rice
Red Yeast Rice is a food created by fermenting rice with a strain of red yeast. It is also called Monascus rice or in Chinese Hung-Cu or Hung-Qu. Red Yeast Rice has been traditionally used in China and Japan as a food and as a remedy for digestive problems and bad circulation. More recently Red Yeast Rice extract taken in supplement form has been found both to reduce overall blood cholesterol levels and to improve the ratio of HDL (“good cholesterol”) to LDL (“bad cholesterol”). A study from University of California found that people who took Red Yeast Rice and maintained a low fat diet reduced their overall cholesterol level by an average of 40 points over a period of twelve weeks. Red Yeast Rice extract contains various cholesterol lowering compounds known as statins. Statins lowers the cholesterol level and reduces the risk of heart attack. Unlike many prescription products Red Yeast Rice extract has shown no serious side effects, Red Yeast Rice extract is one of the ingredients in our natural Cholesterol Combo.

cholesterol
Cholesterol is an essential part of every cell structure and is needed for proper brain and nerve function. Cholesterol is manufactured in the liver and transported through the bloodstream to the sites where it is needed. It is a fatty substance and, because blood is mainly water, it has to latch on molecules called lipoproteins to travel around successfully. Low density lipoproteins (LDLs) are the major transporters of cholesterol in the bloodstream and because LDLs encourage the deposit of cholesterol in the arteries it is known as “bad cholesterol”. High density lipoproteins (HDLs) on the other hand are considered to be “good cholesterol” because they carry unneeded cholesterol away from the cells and back to the liver, where it is broken down for removal from the body. If everything is functioning as it should, this system remains in balance. Sometimes there is too much cholesterol for the HDLs to pick up promptly, or if there are not enough HDLs to do the job, cholesterol can form plaque that sticks to artery walls and may cause heart disease.
